About it
If you're the one who drives your mother to her appointments, you know how it goes. Ten minutes with the doctor. A new prescription. A leaflet. The questions arrive in the car park. And back at her kitchen table there's a bottle that promises to support something.
This pack is what I'd hand that family. Four of my tools, chosen for looking after someone else's health paperwork as well as your own:
- The Appointment Folder: the medicines, the questions and what was said, in one place.
- Ask-Your-Doctor Cards: arrive with three good questions instead of leaving without them.
- The Label Reader: for the bottles and the boxes, and the words printed to sell.
- The Receipts Checklist: for the claims that arrive by phone, by post and by well-meaning neighbour.
Bought one by one, they come to $37. Together they're $25. Each file comes as its own PDF, in A4 and US Letter where it matters.
None of it tells anyone what to take. It helps you ask the people who can examine them.
A page from it
Helping a parent? It’s their folder. Fill it in together, in their words. Sit where they can see the page, let them speak first, and be the one who writes. Some clinics need their permission before they’ll talk to you, so sort that out before the day, not in the waiting room.
From The Appointment Folder, page 2.
